Wotcha.
I’m Samski, a 29-year-old mentally balanced bloke from Yate in South Gloucestershire. I moved out from Bradford-on-Avon, to live by myself in August 2008. It’s a little bit of freedom and I’m enjoying it immensely.
Here’s an Arty pic of me, which is many years old now but it still shows some resemblance. (Sort of) I had it done when holidaying in Florida in 2002.
I was born in Trowbridge (Wiltshire, UK). I have spent most of my life living in rural Britain. I went to Shaw Primary School and later St Laurence Secondary School. These were instrumental in shaping my life, but probably not in any intended way!
I got a place in Luton University studying Health Science with Biochemistry. I have a strong interest in the field of Biology, particularly in the area of Genetics. It was therefore ironic that during that time I was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition called Friedreich's Ataxia. I had noticed many symptoms for years before but no one was able to pinpoint the exact cause until I had the genetic test.
After I graduated from my course I had to rethink what I'd do with my life. I spent a few years looking for work in an office or I.T. based capacity, but eventually I decided not to continue. I have since developed my interest in writing, with eventual hopes of one day becoming a published author.
I’m a pretty determined atheist, and I enjoy debating the finer points of reason, rationality and progress. I also have an interest in philosophy, particularly existentialism; thus I sometimes write up my theories and observations on my blog.
Since being diagnosed with Ataxia I have met and developed friendships with others who are similarly affected, creating local branches, attending the conferences and even doing a sponsored Skydive to raise funds for Ataxia Uk.
I have a continuing interest in reading, particularly science, science-fiction and philosophy. I also enjoy watching films.
I shall update this as my life develops…
